Parameters
For descriptions of each parameter, see #TemplateData section below.
- elected and appointed are mutually exclusive.
- term (which gives "In Office") is alternative to "enthroned"/"began"/"term_start" and it disables "ended"/"term_end". It can be used to show in one line the description of the period (e.g. |term=1466–1471 ). It can be also used to list multiple terms, separated by a new-line (e.g. |term=1466–1471<br>1488–1490 ).
- The Orders section may be omitted in favour of Template:Ordination for those clergy claiming Apostolic succession, such as Catholics, Orthodox and Anglicans.
- resting_place_coordinates is coordinates of grave or similar; if known precisely. Use {{Coord}} with |display=inline, title
- profession and previous_post are mutually exclusive.
Microformat
The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.
Sub-templates
Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, or {{birth date and age}} are used in the infobox. (Do not use these if the date is before 1583). Be cautious about using these if the person is still living, per WP:DOB.
To include a URL, use {{URL}}.
Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.
