Untitled
[edit]Do we have any architects here to expand this article to include the Soc-Realist architecture? [[User:Halibutt|Halibutt]] 10:25, Sep 15, 2004 (UTC)
GDR
[edit]Someone added this:
- It is also often overlooked that the GDR had its own movement of Socialist Realism, separate from that of the USSR. It was pivotal in the rise and fall of the GDR.
Without explanations it is meaningless and useless. Mikkalai 00:55, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
People's Republic of China
[edit]A recent edit just added the line
- However The People's Republic of China still produce idealised poster propoganda, for example to promote their recent manned space launch successes.
which I like. Is there any chance we could get an illustration of one of these posters? I guess it could be included under 'fair-use'. -- Solipsist 14:36, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Gender
[edit]I propose adding a “Gender” section to the Socialist Realism page. It would both be feasible and significant; there is an abundance of literature and discussion on the topic, and the portrayal of women in Socialist Realism was relatively unique compared to other forms of art. Further, due to the overtly political nature of Socialist Realism, the way gender roles were depicted in government commissioned works during different time periods reflected the attitude Socialist countries as a whole had towards women’s role in society.
I mostly wrote about the depiction of women during the pre-stalin + stalin eras, but i'd really encourage people to add something about LGBT representation - i'm curious if there were any paintings that reflected the period of greater acceptance in the 1920s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emilyzorro (talk • contribs) 21:55, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Taking cues from the Afrikaans page
[edit]Hello Wikipedians. I see the Afrikaans version is held in good regard, and from a cursory glance, seems to be quite a bit meatier. I propose lightly lifting from it here and there through human checking of machine translation, although if there are any bilingual editors who could aide in this process, that would be preferable. I will allow for a weeklong period for other editors to offer their opinions before I begin, and I will keep updates here as it goes on. puggo (talk) 21:00, 30 December 2020 (UTC)

- ... that socialist realism was a type of realism (arts) that was made the official art style of the Soviet Union in 1934?

- Sorry, Vivaciouslytypingaway, but it's not eligible. The article was created in 2002, and there's been no recent expansion. It's currently 34,360 prose characters, so a five-times expansion would not really be possible. If you get it to WP:Good article status, you may renominate for DYK within a week of that designation. Please see WP:DYK for general information, rules, eligibility criteria, etc. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 02:42, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
