Comment moved to Talk

[edit]

Moving this to Talk: Seems rather irrelevant, not cited:
"The Gay Pride Parade attracted more that 1.8 million more people, than the third annual [Black Awareness] march at Avenida Paulista, gathering only 12,000 people." -- Writtenonsand (talk)

Explanation of recent edit

[edit]

This article was created by editor CCFSDCA. At the time of creation, it used wording which was copyrighted by Christopher Corbett-Fiacco. Wikimedia requested a permission statement from the copyright holder, which was provided. However, that permission statement did not match the requirements of Wikimedia, although that was not noticed at the time. As part of a cleanup of incorrect tags, the issue was noticed. I contacted Christopher Corbett-Fiacco, who declined to accept the permission language required. Consequently, I have removed the language originally used. This means that the opening sections of the article will have some shortcomings. I urge other editors to fill in the missing history using their own words and reliable sources.

translation problem

[edit]

The title of this article is mistranslated: a more appropriated translation would be "Black Consciousness" instead of "Black Awareness." I would agree that "awareness" is close in meaning, but the context of the celebration is fundamentally about "being conscious of Black history," which is much more than just being "aware." Not sure how to change the title, but I would like to register here the suggestion. Unixjazz (talk) 00:28, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. There is currently a redirect from Black consciousness day to this article, but that (in Title Case) would be a better title if there's consensus. Funcrunch (talk) 17:42, 21 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
