[edit]==Biff Blumfumgagnge Page - Nomination for Un-Deletion==
Hi Denni - I just noticed the Biff Blumfumgagnge page was deleted by you - here's a few references regarding him showing notability and creating a need for the page:
http://scenenewspaper.com/cdreviews.html notes:
The Gomers are a Madison institution, and two Madison mayors have issued proclamations to prove it. The band appears weekly at the High Noon Saloon as a human karaoke machine called Gomeroke. They are also the house band at the annual Madison Area Music Awards. All of which explains why The Gomers are also known as “Madison’s House Band.” Mike Zirkel The Album provides several sonic clues to why The Gomers have become a household word in Madison homes.
The eight members of The Gomers are musicians, comedians and master parodists. And they have some cool friends, such as Adrian Belew (Frank Zappa, David Bowie, King Crimson), who plays some furious guitar on “Things Fall Apart; Robert Fripp (King Crimson, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel), who ads voice and guitar synth to “Fripping the Rude Oud”; and Icelandic drummer Siggi Baldursson (The Sugarcubes, Bjork, Reptile Palace Orchestra), who beats his trademark dry ice sound in the brief “Homosexuals & Lesbians.”
Not since dear old Vivian Stanshall and the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band have we had anything as buoyant and pixilated as most of the 20 songs on the new CD. String wizard Biff Blumfumgagnge’s “Crime Scene” – which begins with the line “Don’t you hate it when the toilet’s a crime scene?” – is especially in the Bonzo mold."

Edmonton Tornado
[edit]I removed it because meteorologists and engineers alike have all agreed that the winds associated with the F-scale are very if not completely inaccurate representations of the actual windspeeds needed to cause such damage. Fujita merely applied wind speeds as an educated guess, with the actual purpose of the F-scale to measure damage instead of wind speed (see the article). Very little is known about tornado wind speed at the surface level, however, the Enhanced Fujita Scale is thought to be a big improvement.

- The article looks good (I've only skimmed it, I could give it a more thorough read later). The only problems that you may run into is lack of sources on a few paragraphs. "Jar of Fools" Notability?
[edit]I think I would not have a hard time proving notability of this book, Jar of Fools, but I was wondering what the qualifications are for that. Do I need to cite write-ups in large newspapers? Does it depend on the notability of the creator, Jason Lutes, whos page I also just created? Please let me know. - Stephen Goldmeier | Profile | Talk | (._.) | 02:55, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Denni- I think the changes I made should be substantial to establish notability on this article. But kudos on the grammar and spelling catches in the article. Why do you and TelusFielder find it necessary to remove any criticism about Edmonton? I found the entry on nicknames particularly relevant, sans the reference to urban homicide. I believe the city is referred to as Deadmonton more than any of the other nicknames there, so does this perhaps act as an act of censorship due to preference?
This would, in a fashion, add credit to Phillip's argument that we're overly zealous to flaunt out underachievements and afraid to face up to how we're perceived, not only by outsiders but also by critics from within.
Deadmonton
[edit]Sorry about the tildes, I am just using the default features in Wikipedia and it just offers to leave a Talk back, I see no other options.
I believe that the term Deadmonton is well-known across Canada regardless of the article, but the Telegraph article was accurate in its tone and description of our flagrant abuse of self-righteousness.
If you'd grown up in Strathcona, you might be more familiar with Edmonchuk, that it has had a pretty popularised past. Because you're not familiar with it doesn't mean it didn't prosper among other subcultures.
And while conversing with business acquaintances after you're quick removal of the Nicknames post, I received the common response of either: A) It's a widely known term and people from many cities across Canada are more familiar with it than any of the other listed nicknames, and B) one associate I queried in the U.S. stated:
"i got to be honest, i'd never even heard of edmonton before i met you. and i'm kinda "into" international cities and such"
The Telegraph article was popularised, and since this city receives so little international coverage it's a milestone piece and reflects a strong initial impression among a representative of one of the world's leading newspapers. His retraction may have been made, but if so, it is nowhere to be found online as a reference. Working in media myself, if there was a retraction, it may have also been due more to politics with business and the paper and the World Games than it had to do with his actual opinion of the city, as is often the case in those sorts of matters.
Further articles I could further quote here from world-renowned architects further criticise the city for its abundant lack of cultural vernacular and a false sense of civic pride.
My issue isn't with the city, I love Edmonton, but I have a serious problem when I see Edmontonians refusing to listen to criticism. It's further perpetuated when government officials make public claims that we're leaders culturally, artistically, and in other fields when these sorts of claims are hugely laughable by both national and international standards.
I would suggest we work out a common ground where we can accept the name Deadmonton on this Wikipedia page. It's a step towards acknowledging our inadequacy in some areas and a bold move in facing up the challenge of proving that we can take on the challenge of the moniker. Sweeping it under the rug is avoiding the truth that everyone but us seems to see.

While not all military units can be famous, with scandals such as My Lai or Abu Ghraib or maneuvers such as the Left Hook, I have a hard time believing that the 542d deserves a speedy deletion only two minutes after I finished the page. But since it is already so... I'll mirror the above comment - why was it recommended for deletion?TDRSS 03:48, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
I realize that LSHS may not seem notable right now, the main reason being this year is it's second year in operation. More would have been added to the article, but the school website contains very little of interest and I never went there, so I have little first hand knowledge to add to it. Deleting may make sense, but having an article stub looks better than having the red links all over the place (Lake Conference associated bars). - Mtekk 04:11, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

RobotGenius restored, contesting speedy delete
[edit]Hi Denni, I didn't see the speedy delete req for spam on RobotGenius when it came up. I've restored the article so that we can have a chance to discuss its merits first. Hello, Denni. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:JSainsbury.png) was found at the following location: User:Denni/User talk:Denni/2004 December Archive. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. [edit]
A tag has been placed on Jason Levine, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --== Waycool27 ==-- 18:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Filth catalyst cover large.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Filth catalyst cover large.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 22:43, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Sierra Sam (Crash test dummy) image deletion
[edit]Hello. I am User:Nerdi from the german wikipedia.
some pictures you uploaded in the english wikipedia which show "sierra sam", the first crashtest dummy ever, were deleted because of lack of license information, permission etc. my commons talkpage lists some of the images.
We already talked about the topic years ago, (here) and i thought the information you gave would suffice. You answered "I contacted Dr Gary Enever, the author of the article, for permission to use the images. He gave me full permission to use them in any manner I saw fit. I think a gfdl tag would be appropriate, if that's what you want to do. Denni 68.148.192.21 17:39, 24. Mär 2006 (CET)" (here).
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to satisfy the commons. The deleting admin, user:majorly, asked me to send the explicit permission of the author to permissions-commons @ wikimedia.org, [1]
According to your declaration in march 2006 dr. gary enever should in fact have emitted the images (to be seen here in enever's collection) to the public domain.
Can you give a permission from the author to permissions-commons @ wikimedia.org, to me, or can you otherwise assure the images are anyhow licensed to fit relevant to the commons? I hope so, because there seem to be no other images of this object.
If you wish to answer, please do so here.
Tank you, User:Nerdi (de.wp.) Nerdi 17:15, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:StFrancisXavier3.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:StFrancisXavier3.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Crash test dummies in popular culture
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Crash test dummies in popular culture, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- While crash test dummies are notable per WP:NOT, crash test dummies in popular culture are not. This article is a combination of original research, repeated rumour, and trivia. WP:NOT, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. Furthermore, article has no references and has been tagged as needing them for over two years.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion nomination of File:DwGaillardia1.jpg
[edit]If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. nn123645 (talk) 05:33, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. The article Guys' night out has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This has proved unsourceable since it can mean anything or nothing. Fails WP:GNG.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bridgeplayer (talk) 23:36, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

Notice of change
[edit]Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. File permission problem with File:Mumbai-apartment.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Mumbai-apartment.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. File permission problem with File:Mumbai-Victoria-Terminus.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Mumbai-Victoria-Terminus.jpg.
If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 01:32, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

The file File:Milk River, Alberta Location y-g map.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned map.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 15:24, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
